Naga Laut

Since 1999 the Naga Laut has been continually upgraded to ensure a comfortable and unique experience. The interior has been beautifully finished in polished local timbers and a spacious living area on board provides all the amenities of home. This boat has full air conditioning, a satellite phone, TV, DVD, VCD, Wi-Fi, fridge, freezer, fishing and snorkelling gear. There are 4 comfortable two-bed cabins and 1 large four-bed cabin all with multiple power sockets to keep laptops, phones and cameras charged, safe, and out of the way. Naga Laut can accommodate up to 14 surfers but sails most comfortably with 8 to 10.

She has two tenders, a Boston Whaler fiberglass speedboat with a Yamaha 85hp to get you quickly and comfortably to the line-up and a smaller zodiac with a 15hp engine. Both are always on standby to quickly get you to the waves or for shore excursions or fishing expeditions.

Oasis

Oasis is a good value surf charter boat that accommodates up to 10 surfers. She is a traditional Indonesian boat with dual 320hp Mitsubishi engines to ensure a reliable ride and a cruising speed of 9 to 11 knots. A 17 foot speedboat with an 85hp engine to get you to and from the surf breaks is also part of the set up. She is fitted with a GPS, Depth Finder, Radar, Liferaft, VHS and ICOM SSB radio. The 4 private cabins are air-conditioned and there is a spacious dining room where you enjoy your tasty meals, a media room to watch surf DVDs or play your favourite tracks and shaded decks.

There are 6 experienced crew whose priority is service and they ensure you have a quality all-round experience – a safe and comfortable surf trip that maximizes your surf time, takes you to best available breaks and the chef always cooks up tasty and abundant food to fuel those long sessions in the water. Nusa Dewata

The Nusa Dewata is a 68ft Penisi style wooden sloop motorsailor and the name is derived from the Balinese language as “Island of the Gods”. She has been operating in the Mentawais for over 20 years taking many happy surfers on the trip of their lives and feeding money back into the Mentawai and West Sumatran economies. Affectionately regarded as the prettiest boat in the fleet and a colourful character,

Nusa Dewata is perfect for smaller groups and accommodates 5 to 6 guests comfortably in fully air conditioned dorm style cabins. There is also a marine toilet with a shower and an outdoor shower for a quick wash off after the surf. She has a 16ft tender with a 100hp outboard and 250 litre inboard fuel tanks which enables guests to travel ahead of the Nusa Dewata to reach spots faster and open up a choice of spots to surf. Simon Dale and his wife, Siti have owned the boat since 2006 and Simon specialises in finding uncrowded waves as well as giving guests an unforgettable experience in the workings of sail power for travelling and deep sea fishing.

Barrenjoey

The Barrenjoey has been operating since 2001 and has a well-deserved reputation as one of the finest surf charters in the Mentawais. She is a 70ft steel ketch rigged motor-sailor, powered by a six cylinder 6LX Gardner diesel engine giving her a speed of up to 8 knots. Accommodation is two double cabins forward and one dormitory style cabin in the aft for six people. All of the cabins are air-conditioned and the aft cabin has its own TV/DVD player. There is a spacious toilet and shower with hot and cold water, with an additional outdoor rinse off shower. The saloon is a roomy, air-conditioned entertaining area with TV/DVD, dinner seating for ten people and is a great place to escape the equatorial heat. There is also a comprehensive library with a drinks fridge. Barrenjoey has 3 tender vessels – a 4 metre zodiac for short trips to and from the surf and beach; a 7.3 metre aluminium support boat powered by two 175hp Suzuki 4 stroke outboards with room for 10 surfers which is excellent for surf reconnaissance, deep sea fishing or emergency transportation and a Yamaha VX Deluxe 3 seater Wave Runner. John and Belinda McGroder are the hosts and have been running the boat for over 15 years. John is one of the most experienced and friendly operators in the Mentawais and together with Belinda, they’ll go out of their way to ensure yu have the trip of a lifetime.

Kuda Laut

This is a great charter boat for smaller groups with a friendly and helpful crew who will provide you with a great atmosphere during the trip. Kuda Laut is a 58ft wooden motor-sailor built from Sumatran iron wood and has a large air conditioned 8 berth cabin with shower and toilet facilities and a 12KVA Onan generator supplying 240v AC and 12v DC. Snorkelling gear, trawling rods, popping gear and plenty of hand fishing lines, a stereo, 34 inch flat screen TV & DVD player are also all available on board. Safety equipment includes: Garmin GPS, Furuno 16 mile radar, Furuno depth sounder, Fishfinder, SSB and VHS radios, EPIRB, 2 compasses, Life jackets & safety rings, fire extinguishers, two anchors, a complete medical and first aid kit and a satellite phone with email capabilities.

Sibon Baru

This is a 62ft catamaran which is spacious, comfortable and stable as catamarans don’t roll from side to side like other boats. Built by surfers, for surfers, for the specific purpose of surf charters and with the emphasis on function and practicality, Sibon Baru gives you the room you need to enjoy yourself. The boat is fully air-conditioned, has a water maker and is equipped with all modern navigational and safety equipment as well as a satellite phone. Guests sleep in twin-berth cabins and there’s a light and airy saloon with an ample seating area, big screen TV, DVD and stereo. Plenty of power is available 24 hours a day to charge batteries for video cameras and other gear. On deck there is plenty of room to lounge around in the cockpit or under a large deck tent where you can lay back and watch the action while you rest up for your next session.
